Senior Statesdogs

The strength of Darrowby is founded on our seniors-both those still living and those living in our memories. Any kennel can produce winning dogs with a combination of time, skill, study and conditioning. To produce generations of the same type, and dogs that are able to win in veterans' classes once they hit the double digits shows true depth in a kennel. Some of the senior ambassadors to our breeding and showing program are showcased here. Perhaps you recognize some titleholders from your dog's pedigree, or some with common ancestors.

Arf has given us much pleasure and beautiful puppies. She has earned her retirement. We keep waiting for her to slow down a tad and realize she is no longer required to have the energy of a one year old. Arf had 5 full brother and sister who were titled. She was our reserve queen, with literally dozens of reserves in big and small classes. Her litters are her legacy, with the Baker's dozen being the recent record here.

DARROWBY DOVE SONO

Arf, formally Darrowby's Dove Sono, is the mother of the infamous wagonload of puppies. Arf was quite the pup herself-she was born "singing." Our first inclination was to dub her Diva. That name conflicted with Viva, an English import in our kennel at the time, so we looked for Diva names. In keeping with her Disco Volante mother, we went foreign and asked Michelle for a few nice Aria names-Dove Sono won-"Where are you?" has seemed most appropriate for this mischievous girl who loves to explore.

The call name Aria immediately became Arfia. Arf had her second litter of puppies in 2001, and is now a happily retired matron of Darrowby. We love her looks, her attitude, and her puppies!

Gosling Jeeves of Darrowby is another "retiree/" He was a great buddy of Tahn, sharing everything except the juiciest of cooked marrow bones, and having fun stealing favorite toys back and forth. Jeeves is a favorite housedog at Darrowby, and now plays toy share games with Marty, the Corgi and Cessna.

Sad note--July2004

Jeeves has joined his buddy Tahn--both left us after full lives as very special friends. We miss them terribly.
